Pre-Marriage Counselling

Want to build a foundation for a strong marriage?

We often put effort into training for a career or up-skill for employment opportunities or recreational pursuits but assume we will "just know" what to do in marriage - one of the most important relationships we enter into - why is this?

Pre-marriage counselling  is in fact more of a coaching environment where couples acquire a range of useful skills in a fun, sensitive and caring environment to help them maximise the chance of creating a happy and healthy marriage. Whilst the pre-marriage program at Kiwisense follows a general outline we also like to tailor sessions to suit the individual needs of each couple; particularly any concerns they may have whilst taking into account their time and finances available.
It covers some basic topics based on the main areas of concern that we have observed over the years that have driven  couples to seek counselling. This could include topics such as:
  • The differences in the way couples function – this is initially what attracts people together but tends to cause conflict & communication breakdown after the romantic period starts to wear off.
  • How to deal with conflict and learn how to negotiate through the problems that arise so that there is a win-win outcome for both partners.
  • Expectations – are you both on the same page and if not negotiate through this.
  • Understanding basics such as Love Languages and how these can build a healthy relationship.
  • Understanding Unbearable Feelings, Welds and Echos and how these can affect a relationship.
  • Developing skills such as “Intentional Conversations” as a tool to develop intimacy and understanding.
  • Looking at the concept of trust in the relationship.
Consider investing in one of the most important decisions in your life or suggest family/friends give you a voucher as a wedding present to put toward Pre-marriage coaching.
